Working group of Deutscher Boots- und Schiffbauer-Verband becomes part of a newly founded association.

In future, there will only be one association for the maritime industry in Germany, as the members of Deutscher Boots- und Schiffbauer-Verband (DBSV) unanimously approved a merger with the newly founded Verband Maritime Wirtschaft Deutschland (VMWD) at their spring conference in Duisburg on March 15, 2025. This means that the DBSV working group Deutsche Yachten will also become part of the VMWD.

The association’s headquarters will be in Cologne, while the previous DBSV office in Hamburg will remain. It was already entered in the Cologne register of associations on March 13, 2025, and today the VMWD is presenting its new image: with the introduction of a new logo, the association is also setting an example of change, progress and a contemporary external image, thus underlining its dynamism and future orientation. “The wave in the logo reflects much of the association’s work,” says Karsten Stahlhut, Managing Director of VMWD.

“With the new design, the association is taking another important step into the future and strengthening its position in the public eye as a strong and innovative organization,” adds DBSV CEO Claus-Ehlert Meyer, who will manage the VMWD together with Stahlhut as Managing Director in the future.
